BulkTranscripts works without signing in. We collect the information needed to run transcript extraction, keep your library and credits, prevent abuse, and understand whether the product is working.
What we collect
When you use the app we process the YouTube URLs you submit and store the transcripts we extract for you in your library so re-exports are free. To enforce the free allowance without requiring signup, we derive pseudonymous identifiers using keyed one-way hashes of the browser device ID and public IP; we do not store the raw values with your activity. If you purchase credits, the browser stores your license key and the server stores only a keyed one-way account identifier and its credit balance.
Signing in with Google is optional. If you do, Google provides your verified account ID, email, name, and profile picture so we can attach your existing library and credits to an account that works across devices. We exchange Google's short-lived sign-in credential for our own session token; we do not receive your Google password.
We record page paths, referring domains, coarse device platform, country, and pseudonymous visitor identifiers for product analytics and abuse prevention. We do not store raw IP addresses in the analytics tables. To resolve the country code, the server may send your IP address to ipwho.is or ip-api.com and keeps only the returned country code. We also use Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement tags, which may set or read identifiers under Google's own privacy terms. Your browser's local storage holds a device identifier and, when applicable, your license key and session token.
Browser extension
The BulkTranscripts Chrome extension is covered by this policy. It handles less information than the website, and what it does handle is listed here in full.
What it reads. When you click the extension, it reads the address of the tab you are on so it knows which video, playlist, or channel you meant. The button it adds to YouTube pages reads the page address only. The extension does not read, collect, or transmit the contents of any web page, your browsing history, your form input, or the pages you visit while it is not in use.
What it sends. The YouTube address you chose, the pseudonymous device identifier described above, your license key if you have entered one, and a coarse label that the request came from the extension. These go to bulktranscripts.co and nowhere else. The server uses that label to count extension transcript requests, outcomes, and exports separately from website usage; it does not add page-content, click, keystroke, or browsing-history analytics. No other site receives anything from the extension.
What it stores. Your export format, video limit, language, in-page button preference, device identifier, and license key are stored locally in your own browser. They are not synced to other devices and we cannot read them. Uninstalling the extension deletes them. Transcripts you download are written straight to your computer's downloads folder.
On bulktranscripts.co. Purchases happen on this website, which stores your license key in your browser. So that credits you have paid for work in the extension without you copying anything by hand, the extension reads that one value from this site's own local storage and keeps its own copy. It reads nothing else here, and it does this only on bulktranscripts.co.
Optional developer permission. The extension can point at a local server on
localhost for development. Chrome asks for that permission separately and only if you
type a custom server address in the extension's options; it is never requested during normal
use.
What we never do. We do not sell or transfer extension data to third parties, use it for advertising or credit scoring, or use it to train machine learning models. The extension carries no analytics or advertising code, and the Google Analytics and Google Ads tags described above run on the website only, never inside the extension.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Your card details go directly to Dodo and never touch our servers. Dodo shares with us only what is needed to credit your license key.
Third-party services
We fetch publicly available caption data from YouTube on your behalf. Our infrastructure runs on Railway. Payment processing is handled by Dodo Payments, optional sign-in by Google Identity Services, and traffic and advertising measurement by Google Analytics and Google Ads. Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy. Coarse country lookup is provided by ipwho.is or ip-api.com.
Retention and deletion
Extracted transcripts are kept in a shared cache so repeated requests need no second network fetch. The first addition to an account's personal library costs one credit; later reads and exports from that library are free. You can remove individual videos, whole channels, or entire runs from your library in the app; doing so removes your link but may not remove a transcript from the shared cache. To request deletion of account or other personal information, contact us.
